Receding gums behind my front teeth?

I think my gums are receding on the backside of my front two teeth. I try really hard to take care of my teeth and have no idea why this is happening or what I should do. They have receded to the point where the bottom of my teeth seem to be somewhat exposed. Anyone know why or what I should do? Thanks.
