Pet Bird For Beginner?

Hello there! I was looking for a pet bird (obviously) for myself. I have owned a bird before, a little finch, but this wasn't the best experience for me. I would like to have a bird that is affectionate, quiet, and very, very friendly. I'm not too big on how pretty a bird looks, or how sweetly it sings. Those are all pluses, don't get me wrong, but I'm looking for a companion. I have all the time in the world to train and care for my pet bird. I'd like the price ranges of some breeds of birds as well. Any help you give me would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!
