How can creationists ignore the vast amount of evidence pointing to and supporting evolution?

If you read much of the creationist literature they actually say that if there are facts that contradict the scriptures, or more correctly their interpretation of the scriptures then the facts must be ignored or some how made to fit the scriptures. Ignoring the evidence of evolution is child's play.
