Women were dependant on men back in the 19th century because we were simply not seen as equal or capable of actually working a well paid job, therefore women were reliant upon men in the upper cles to gain the womans status, however these days, we do it for ourselves, and only need men to procreate lol, im joking, but we can do pretty much anything a man can do, we are equal in the majority of places, thats the best thing to have happened over the past few centuries.
