Can quilting fabric be used for making apparel?

Sure. But one thing to watch for when using quilt fabrics for a garment... check the layout carefully, particularly with larger motifs. A friend wound up with a large bunch of gs on her in one dress, and a pair of inauspiciously placed metallic gold chrysanthemums on the front of a shirt. She's now much more careful about thinking out layouts...
