Need help making a derby car..?

For physics we are havin a derby race it does not need to be made of pine wood so I decided to make it out of K'nex. I have somewhat of an idea i made the body i just don't know how to keep the tires from rubbing, or how to add the weight to the car. Even the littlest advice could help. Thanks in advance! :]
